Here's the scoop Mary. The Armory Park Guesthouse looks like a nice building. It's in a neat area - Armory Park - which has lots of old, big houses. It's an area that is being revitalized, but still needs time. The Guesthouse is right next to (with an alley in between) a high rise low income apartment building. It's right across the street from an ugly, administration type building. The house itself has a small yard in front with mature fruit trees and there is a wrought iron fence around the house. It is definetly convenient to the Rialto. I would not walk alone in that area at night, but daytime would be fine.
I am glad Tucson's downtown is being revitalized, but at the moment it is still a rather depressing, dead place (except for the great restaurants I mentioned in earlier post). There are so many other, prettier places in Tucson. The resorts in the foothills are really nice, but not so convenient to the Rialto. If this B&B is a great deal I would probably do it. If you really want a B&B look up Catalina Park Inn and Peppertrees. Both of them are in a better area, close to the University, and still not terribly far from downtown. La Posada Del Valle is also very nice,; next door to Arizona Inn. If a hotel will do I would vote for the Marriott at the U of A (it's like 2nd St. and Euclid). Let me know if you have other questions. I like being able to "give back" because I have had so much help from people on this web site.
