Trip with Teenagers

I'm trying to plan a trip with teenagers for Labor Day Weekend. It will be bittersweet. Shortly after, my son will be leaving for Boot Camp so it's our last family trip for awhile. Also have a daughter, 15. Thinking about a beach house, since most teens love the beach but also need lots of activites.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If you need lots of activities, why not try a cruise? But as far as a beach house, which sounds good too, where do you live and how far do you want to travel?

I live in Ohio, so it will need to be driveable and affordable. We've done the Outer Banks and they've loved it.
Keeping in mind 8 weeks later will be going to his Boot Camp graduation in Cape May NJ.

If you must drive, I would recommend the coast of South Carolina. I would recommend the many beach areas close enough to Charleston in order to see the history of the city and Ft. Sumter. Kiawah is a great area, but a bit pricey. I would recommend Folly Beach for an inexpensive beach area, or you could stay close close to the battery downtown and head to Folly or Isle of Palms during the day depending on the atmospere you are looking for. A second thought would be a cruise. There are some that do leave from Charleston, including Norwegian Cruise Lines. Have a great time with whatever you do!

As you probably know, the Florida Gulf coast is crowded with former Ohioans. St. Pete Beach is a popular spot for teens. Try the Alden Resort. Or the Tradewinds. The Bonaire has 2-bedroom apartments and is more 60's style. Any of these would be a good place for your family.

Here's a thought, let them plan it. Tell them to come up with a couple of ideas, compare them to your budget and go for it. You may just be surprised.

I agree--let them pick the place but then you make the arrangements. Otherwise, it probably won't get done! What about Virginia Beach? Great beach and tons of activities--sure it's touristy but we found that's what our kids love. Now my husband and I--we'd probably head to the Outer Banks and a peaceful beach house if it was just the two of us. With teens, it's a different story for sure. Enjoy your trip together--am sure you have many mixed emotions right now--
