Read Fodor's book on NYC...lots of ideas on what to see.

Also try google search to find out all the different things availble and you'll know if you want clubs, museums, sites, ethnic diversity, calm walks, dinners, theatre, and which bourough you want them in...

If you've ever used a subway, it's apice of cake.

Make sure you understand the express/local service you will save time by taking express trains if you are going long distances. Just be sure the stop you want is an express stop, otherwise you need to switch to a local before you get there.

My suggestion - Prioritize! You can't possibly see all of NYC in 4 days, so pick and choose what interests you, based on a book like TMH suggested.

Check out the MTA website to get a better sense of the subway system. If you're staying in midtown, you'll find the Green lines (4-5-6) and Red lines (1-9 2-3)will take you most everywhere.

Thanks for the input... I think we are staying at the Sheraton hotel and towers or the Sheraton Manhattan are these good hotels?

Definitely take a Graline double decker bus tour. It's the best way to see the City. You can buy a 48 hour ticket good for all the tours. If you only take one tour, the Lower Manhattan one is what I would recommend. You can also buy tickets for the Empire State Buildong and the Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island tour at the Grayline ticket office.

The subway can be confusing at first. Be sure to get a subway map. Know that uptown=north and downtown=south.

The following website is a great resource for planning a trip to NYC.

Oops, I mean to say a Grayline Tour.

A good place to start your research is right here on Fodor's by reading its three-day destination guide.
