Trip to NO

Planning a trip to New Orleans for the middle of August with a few co-workers. We are planning on staying at the Ambassador Hotel http://www.ambassadorneworleans.com/ Does anyone have anything to say about it(location, rooms, etc). We plan on spending a lot of time in the french quarter, however I was wondering if the other attractions located close to the hotel were operational, like harrahs, the aquarium, and the D-day musuem to name a few. Its going to be myself and two other male co-workers so we aren't really worried about safety and are looking forward to a great trip!

gets HORRIBLE reviews at tripadvisor.com. I would rethink that one!

I'm not familiar with this hotel but the three places you mentioned have reopened. It will be very hot and humid. Come prepared and be sure to carry water bottles.

Based on my observations (& what I heard down there) I think I would change my Hotel to someplace in the Quarter. Right now, many hotels are very inexpensive (I just stayed at the Monteleone for $99/night) + the location is not the best.

The Royal Sonesta which is in the Quarter also has $99+ rates for August.

If the Sonesta and Monteleone are going for $99/night, grab it!

We are coming from Florida so the heat should not be too much of a problem, we did however decide to stay at the Ambassador when we return I will let everyone know how the stay went.
