Trip To Nashville in Sept
 

Can anyone help me out. I am trying to find great things to do in Nashville in Sept. I am taking my husband there for his surprise birthday present. Sure we have the Grand Ole Opry tickets, General Jackson, but what is really good and fun to do there besides that. Does anyone know about the Bluebird Cafe, Zanies Comedy ShowPlace, Miss Marples Mystery Dinner Theatre and Braodway Dinner Train? Are they worth doing????? We like entertainment and fun but don't drink much or party much. We always say we make our own party... He will be 42. I appreicate any help in this matter.

FYI - I believe the Dinner Train is no longer in operation. Go to the Wild Horse Saloon- fun even if you don't drink & check out the Parthenon replica in the park across the street from Vanderbilt University (very interesting story).

Try the Country Music Hall of fame as well as the studio b tour. Opryland is a fun place to stay and or visit. Tootsies lounge has alot of history even if you are not much of a partier. If your husband likes football the Titans may be in town.

You don't say where you are staying-?-If not at the Opry Hotel then at least go there to see the gardens--they are inside under BIG glass domes and are awesome!!!<BR>Hotel is adjacent to the Grand Ole Opry House..

As a native Nashvillian, I know that you will fall in love with our beautiful city. I agree with one of the other posters - the Parthenon is a must see (pack a picnic lunch and enjoy the park). The Bluebird Cafe is a hole in the wall, but can certainly be entertaining. If you go to the Bluebird, go to the Green Hills Grille for dinner first (very near by). If you enjoy history, a trip to the Hermitage (the home of Andrew Jackson)is wonderful. Have a great time!

Even if you are not a huge country music fan, visit the Ryman Auditorium (original home of the Grand Ole Opry). I thought the tour was well done - a guide speaks for about 10 minutes, and then you can roam around and look at the displays at your own pace. We took a little over an hour.

To the west of the capitol building is Centennial Park. The history of Tennessee is carved in a long stone wall. My Dad and I thought we'd look at a few of the stones and move on. We ended up walking the entire length. Interesting the whole way from the Civil War to the creation of the Moon Pie. :-)

To the west of the cap, and the historu on the stone wall is BI-Centennial Park. Centennial Park is on West End Avenue and has the Parthenon. Both shouldn't be missed.<BR><BR>The entire Music Row area will be interesting as will be the Opryland complex.<BR><BR>Don't waste your time/money on Miss Marples...there are much better things to do downtown, That area is called &quot;the District&quot;. It roughly encompasses Broadway, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Aveand will take a night. The Wildhorse is there as well.<BR><BR>Zanies is also a waste. Typical comedy club done badly.
