Trip suggestions - East Coast?
 

I realize this is a bit vague - DH and I are expecting our first baby, and are looking to go on about a week long "baby-moon" before the baby's arrival. We are in our early 30s, and don't mind spending money to get quality.

We plan to go the first part of May, and I will be almost 6 months pregnant. We are at a loss for ideas. We like to have lots of things to do, but lazing around with nice scenery would be nice for a few days as well.

We live near Detroit, and don't mind flying or driving a distance to get to the destination. We just went to California for a coastal drive last summer, so we were thinking something more East Coast.

Although i've never been there, I've heard great things about the Cloisters on Sea Island in Georgia. That might be a great place that's warm but not unbearably hot in May? bermuda is another thought. Don't know if you do Florida alot, but the Ritz (beach) in naples is amazing. Congratulations and best of luck to you both!

We did the babymoon in San Antonio. We did ours in February so it was nice to get out the cold Michigan weather.

I'm trying to think of what is easy to get to from here. Spirit is always running crazy specials.

Wherever you go, my advice is to find a really nice bed and breakfast. Most of them don't take kids, so it will be the last time you get to stay in one for awhile.

Have you thought about Charleston, South Carolina? It will be absolutely gorgeous in May- not too hot, lots of flowers blooming, great food, easy to get around, etc...

The coastal destinations mentioned, especially Charleston, are excellent.

But for another type of scenery, you might want to consider Asheville in the NC mountains. Here's a link:

I would head to Maine...fly into Portland then head to Kennebunkport and/or Camden.

The Maine coast is gorgeous.

We spent a most amazing week in Newport, RI last August. I was not familiar with the area and was not expecting much but found plenty of interesting sights, nice walking, boat excursions, relaxation, great food and what not. That is my recommendation.
