Loved your report - I'm off to Kauai next year and now I can't wait.
Last time in Hawaii we had a similar experience to you with surfing... after having a lesson we rented boards on our own and found out it was much much harder without an instructor!!

Hi Lifes, I so enjoyed your trip report and your wonderful photos! I just emailed it to my stepdaughter. They went to Maui for their first visit to Hawaii and can hardly wait to go back after the holidays. Their interests are the same as yours so thought your thread and photos would give them some wonderful ideas. Hope you two can get back to beautiful Hawaii in the near future!
