Trip Report - Where was I?
 

Saturday. After picking up the keys to the rental unit, and unloading the car, DH and I made a quick trip to Shaws Market for groceries. (Had to go off-island for beer, though). This year we are just off of 9th street -- usually we are south, around 20th street. But still, we were not bothered by the sound of the roller coaster two blocks away. It is pretty neat to be able to see both ferris wheels at night from our (upstairs) living room.

Sunday. Bought our beach passes at the little booth, hit the gray sand with paperbacks in hand. Read, swam, dried off, baked in the sun, read some more.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. The same.

Each evening we would hit the boardwalk for some minigolf, amusement rides, shopping, and junk food. Alex's favorite is the Surf Mall, where he can get a massage and buy trading cards; Allison likes the 99 Cent store. Lyle tries to hit all the minigolfs, but he doesn't much care for the one with the gorillas. I like to read all the goofy t-shirts in the shops.

Of course we went to Schrivers for salt water taffy, and shook hands with Mr. Peanut. Those of us who didn't sleep in rode our bikes (and surreys) on the boardwalk in the mornings. We watched the Baby Parade on Thursday.

Ocean City, NJ?? We LOVE it there!

Shrivers gave it away, mostly, with Shaws a confirming. One sister brings back the dental-filling-extracting taffy each time she goes there.

Why do they have Salt Water Taffy at Lake George NY?

Exactly right. I thought it was probably too easy. Anybody else want to post their mystery vacation?


Re salt water taffy: I believe my family used to buy it at the Indiana State Fair. Doesn't even have a lake, let alone salt water ...

I would love to post my mystery vacation, but you already did it! And yes, Shriver's was a dead giveaway!
