Thanks for sharing this again.

I have always respected his gentle nature and selfless giving to others. I wish him all the best in his health treatment. **==

I have always loved this thread. Thanks for bringing it back up. I did manage to dive through Plains a few years ago, but too late in the evening to do much except drive back and forth by the Carters' house a few times and stop by a gift shop on the main square.

I would feel very invasive showing up to this congregation. At the least, I hope newcomers go directly to the overflow room and let the regular congregation take the 300 seats.

He had to give a 2nd class today, apparently 800 people showed up. Some of them didn't want to be schooled so he just greeted them and accepted their good wishes and they left.
|
Just heard on the radio that he taught two back to back lessons today.
The church encourages visitors. The middle section of the sanctuary is reserved for church members. The remaining portion is seating for guests. This is something that is important to Jimmy Carter. I think most people are comfortable following his lead on this. If there comes a time that his schedule changes, I'm sure they will reflect that on the website |
Well of course the church encourages visitors. I just hope it doesn't turn into a 3 ring circus of tourists coming to see a man in his 90's who is ill, because time is running out to see him. Clearly it has begun. I mean what's the point of showing up and not wanting to be schooled? As Clark points out. To each their own. I just wouldn't be comfortable showing up this late in the game, no matter how much I admire the man.

That's a good choice for you.

What an amazing experience this must have been. I am glad you resurrected this thread. He is truly an inspiration.

Thanks Starrs. This brought tears to my eyes. I've always admired the peanut farmer who became president. And even more after his presidency. He is truly a great man.
|
Me too. Thank you, starrs. And thank you, Jimmy Carter.
