I drove to the Cape Friday morning from Groton, CT to meet up with my parents who were flying into Providence that afternoon. I left around 11 or so that morning as it was raining at home. Hit some construction on route but traffic was always moving. I think it was around 1 when I got into the Hyannis area so not a bad ride at all! First time I have been to the Cape in around 15 years. Definitely packed there (not a surprise though).

I went straight to the Cape Cod Brewery for a few drinks. It was very busy but very well organized. Servers were working hard to keep up. Around 8 different beers available. Not the best beer I have had but I enjoyed them and felt this was a worthwhile stop. There were lots of board games and corn hole available outside to keep everybody entertained. On Fridays, there is a Farmer's Market outside as well. The gift shop inside the brewery has an assortment of local products available.

When I left there, I went to Devil's Purse Brewery in Dennis. Very busy here too. The town has restricted the brewery to only be able to serve 20 oz of beer per customer during the week. This allowed me to have 4 5 ounce samples and buy a couple of crowlers to bring home. This is unfair to the brewery as their beer is really good and they have a lot more options available. Talking with a server, he told me they don't have the restriction on Saturdays...I really enjoyed this stop and would spend a lot of time there if it was local for me.

I went to the hotel (Hyannis Harbor Hotel) and checked in. Nice hotel but you are paying for the location. The rooms have been recently renovated and are nice but the hotel is huge. Personally, I would have stayed elsewhere for less cost but my parents chose the hotel. I hung around the hotel waiting for my parents. Due to the rain and traffic, it took them nearly 3.5 hours to get to the hotel from Providence Airport.

We went to Spanky's seafood shack across the street. 45 minute wait to sit (not unexpected). Food was good with decent service. And then back to the hotel to watch the Sox game that night.

While watching the Sox game, the rain continued to pour down on the Cape. Seeing the reports the next morning, anywhere from 5- 10" of rain fell that night. Not good weather for what was supposed to be a 1 night stay for me and hard to enjoy...The ice machine at the hotel (they only have one) had an open window near it and my dad got soaked each time he went down for ice...

Exciting game (Sox beat the Yankees) and then time to crash. That was a fun night with my parents and myself as I don't get to see them that often and its my Dads 70th birthday weekend. The plan was to get up the next morning and have breakfast then they would take off and meet up with my aunts / uncles for their week long visit at a house rental while I took off and went home. I decided to spend an extra night out there myself. I found a motel away from the harbor for $125 for that night ( cannot even remember the name of it - it served its purpose for me - clean and place to crash).


Once we said our goodbyes, I took off and tried to go to Pirate's Cove for mini golf. Too many people and the lines were backed up at every hole. Smiled thinking about the memories there and then went to the Wyddah Pirate Museum. I really enjoyed this museum being a fan of shipwrecks and pirate history. It wasn't as hokey as I was afraid it was going to be. It involved a lot of reading but kids seemed to be enjoying it too without doing the reading. It took me around an hour and change to go through. Worthwhile stop. They do have an audio tour that I used but it was difficult to hear in there.

I then played mini golf at Animal Kingdom down the road to be outside for a while and enjoyed it. Then went to Seafood Sam's for a lobster Roll for lunch. We used to go there all the time and I enjoyed the lunch.

I drove out to Hog Island Brewery in Orleans after this and enjoyed the stop. Beer was good though my favorite one was a stout - not the style to drink when it was so hot. Still, enjoyed "The Outermost Brewery" and found the people working friendly. They had gotten slammed on Saturday so some beers were running low.

Next stop was back to Devil's Purse as I wanted to try more of their beers without the 20 ounce limit. I really enjoyed their Season in Hell Saisson they released that day (it was a Plum Saisson). Funny part was my parents were sitting outside with my aunt and uncle when I got there. They were a little shocked to see me as they thought I had gone home (wasn't telling them about the 2nd night as no kids allowed for the reunions when they do them)...Turns out my uncle knew about the brewery and asked my parents to meet them there so I hung around with them for a while (did tell them about staying an extra night. Not really sure how my parents felt about me still being there).

I left here and went to the motel and checked in then walked around downtown Hyannis for dinner that night having dinner at the Black Cat Tavern (enjoyed it).

I got up the next morning and got to Pirate's Cove when they opened so I could play there. Still a slight line but enjoyed it. Holes definitely feel easy now and too gimmicked...Drove past the campground in Dennis where my grandmother had her trailer we always camped at.

Uneventful drive home on Sunday but took me nearly twice as long due to heavy traffic the whole way. Now that I have seen how easy the ride is, I may go to the Cape more often from here but wait till October....

Interesting. I didn't know about all the breweries, I'll have to mention them to my husband. Thanks for sharing.

There is also 1 brewery on each island. Cisco on Nantucket (can find their beers on the Cape) and Offshores Ale on the Vineyard.
