Trip Report - Oregon Astounds - Portland, Mt. Hood, Bend, Cannon Beach

I recently spent one week touring Oregon. Although I actually grew up in Oregon, I now live in New England and was coming back to my "home state" to show my boyfriend the area. It was awesome touring the state. We got a lot in over a week and it didn't seem too packed. I blogged all my trip reports for those interested in similar trips. Here is a synopsis:

- Portland - Biking, Beer, Baristas - We spent a day in Portland, Oregon touring the city by bike. We started in the East side in the Cully neighborhood, crossed over to the West side and Pearl District at one point and eventually came back. I'm blogged the trip here: http://thefreelanceadventurer.blogsp...-baristas.html
Our adventured included:
- Voodoo Doughnuts
- Community Cycling Center
- Upright Brewing Company
- Rogue Brewing Company
- The Bye and Bye Restaurant/Bar
- Barista Coffee Shop
- Saturday Market
- Portland Bridges

- Crossing the Cascades - We drove over Mt. Hood, visiting the Timberline Lodge, Government Camp, and the Deschutes River. I blogged the trip report here: http://thefreelanceadventurer.blogsp...rive-from.html

- Central Oregon - We stayed three nights in Sunriver and explored Bend and Newberry National Forest. I blogged the adventures here: http://thefreelanceadventurer.blogsp...nument-in.html
Our Adventures included:
- Hiking the Big Obsidian Flow
- Paulina Falls
- Lava River Caves

- Cannon Beach - Our last adventure was to go to the coast. We visited Cannon Beach for the day. The trip report is found here: http://thefreelanceadventurer.blogsp...ch-oregon.html
Our adventures included:
- Breakfast at Camp 18 Restuarant and Museum
- Tide Pool exploration at Haystack Rock
- Ecola State Park hiking at Indian Beach
- Tillamook Lighthouse view from Ecola State Park

We had an AMAZING time in Oregon and it was fun visiting it as a tourist.
I hope you find my trip reports helpful! Feel free to leave comments/questions!

Thanks for filing this great trip report.
One quick correction - The Newberry Volcanic Monument is within the Deschutes National Forest. The road to the top of Paulina Peak is gravel and a bit rough but worth driving up for the view. I was up there last week. The highest point is 7997' above sea level.

@tomfuller - Thank you for the correction. I think I got it right on the blog. :-) Good to know about Paulina Peak. We didn't make it there - hopefully next trip. There's so much to explore!

@bbqboy - Thanks! Glad to have more followers.
