Trip Report -- NOLA JazzFest 2011
We were at JazzFest for the first weekend this year and tried a couple of restaurants that were good. First, we had a wonderful dinner of oysters, etc. at Casamento's on Magazine Street. It's a classic place & I loved it.
http://www.casamentosrestaurant.com/main/main.html Dinner at Cochon the next night and it exceeded our expectations. Oysters again, this time baked and they were perfect. We also had a fabulous crawfish casserole and terrific hush puppies. http://www.cochonrestaurant.com/ We had Italian at two places that were both good -- Vincents on St.Charles and Pascal's Manale on Napoleon Ave. We were staying near Pascal's and wanted to go out on Sunday night, around 8:30 pm with no reservations! If you are familiar with NOLA, you know that this can be tricky -- lots of places just aren't open on Sunday night. Pascal's was and we were able to walk right over & get it. We were pleasantly surprised with the quality and it's a very good value. http://www.neworleansrestaurants.com/pascalsmanale/ Can't wait until next year! |
How was the music?

Hi! Was trying to go to NOLA with the wife around Mardi Gras time next year but getting rooms at Club La Pension (on Decateur) are impossible to get around that time! We're Bluegreen Owners (http://bluegreenrentals.com/)and own vacation time which is why that specific resort/hotel (I hear it's gorgeous!) But maybe we can go to Jazz Fest instead...?
