That's nice to know as in most places finding a REAL, old time, corned beef or pastrami sandwich is near impossible. No spices, no pickling - no flavor!

I don't think you'll find corned beef or pastrami at Russ & Daughters.

"As far as I know, I am the only Jewish father who was disappointed that his kid became a doctor,” Mr. Federman said. “I was thinking sturgeon, not surgeon." Priceless! Loved the line about the father chasing customers out the door. Thanks for this, ekscrunchy.

Right..Russ does sell meat, only fish. So glad they are still around as most of the old places we used to go to when I was a kid have long gone.. Never forgot the screaming match my aunt had with a waiter at Ratner's on Delancey; she wanted to take home the onion rolls from the basket. You can just imagine the ruckus this caused!
