trip report-1st-4th Oct.

We reached salt lake on 30th night.Left early morning on 1st for Teton. The forecast was for Rain and snow which got me worried as we did not want to get stuck. Missed the turn at Soda Springs.Went via Idaho towards Swan valley. This was a beautiful stretch with some fall colors. On the way there was a creek after Teton Village where a lot of cars were parked on either side of the road as there were Moose on the creek.Got off and took some photos. As the forecast was for rain we moved on to Oxbow bend.A lot of tourists were there.Once their bus left its was peaceful. This is one of the best places to see the range with the fall colors. Next on to Schwabachers landing and the barn house for some lovely photos.Lovely rainbow formation.
Checked into Dornan's spur ranch cabin.Lovely place but the chuckwagon moose was closed for a private event. Proceeded to Jenny Lake in the evening. It started to rain hence got back to the cabins.
Next morning(2nd) we planned for the sunrise but its was overcast.Any way we checked out and went to Schabachers landing. Many photographers were waiting from early morning.Got some lovely shots and stopped by oxbow bend.Today was even more beautiful.Proceeded to Jackson lake lodge.Stopped by to see the Teton range one last time.
We left for Old Faithful and stopped at Gibbon falls.Stayed to Old Faithful snow lodge. Saw the Old faithful geyser go off and then went to see the other geysers and grand prismatic spring.Could not see the blue color as there was too much steam.Got some nice bison shots near the geyser.Had dinner at the snow lodge. In the evening stopped by at the OFI.Nice lobby.
Next morning (3rd) left for the canyon. On the way did the firehole lake drive. After the waterfalls went over the dunraven pass towards Mammoth. Ran into some bisons on the road and reached Mammoth Hotels.Very nice town with a lot of Elk on the grass lawns.Visited the hot springs and had dinner at the Mammoth dining room.
4th morning plan was to visit Lamar Valley and then proceed to Salt Lake. Dunraven pass was closed and with the road to Norris closed due to construction we had no choice other than drive 7 hrs via Bozeman. The drive till Idaho was a pleasant surprise with the fall colors and it started to snow as we got closer to West Yellowstone.
Fantastic trip and will need to come back and do it a in a relaxed manner.
Thanks to the all the forum members for their inputs.

Sounds like it was a good trip. Was it your first time there? How did you arrive there, air or road?

Yes 1st trip.We flew into Salt Lake from Lax and hired a rental car with Hertz.
Flying into Bozeman or Jackson was expensive.
