Trinidad, CA lodging

I'm driving down from Vancouver BC to San Francisco in August and with my husband and teenage son. One of the stops we're considering is Trinidad, California. I'm wondering if somebody who has stayed at the Trinidad Inn can give me some feedback on it.

We've stayed in 3 places in Trinidad.
They were; Lost Whale B&B, Trinidad B&B and Turtle Rocks Inn. I prefer the Lost Whale. Nice oceanview from your room with balcony. Big common library room with large windows. Hot tub below with ocean view. Quiet.

Those three ( Lost Whale B&B, Trinidad B&B and Turtle Rocks Inn) are out of our price range. I'm interested in a cheaper place but I certainly don't want to stay in a dive. I'm looking for lodging that is nice but not ultra deluxe in Trinidad.

We are also staying in Trindad this summer..one of the places recommended to us is the Trinidad Inn..very affordable to our Canadian $$ and it is listed in most major travel journals. We are going in July so we haven't been there yet, but there is a web site where you can see what it's like.

I've stayed at the Patrick's Point Inn which is just about 2 miles north of Trinidad, I believe. Reasonable rates and nice staff. They have a website.

Be aware that the coast will almost certainly be cold, windy and foggy during July...
