Tribeca Clothing Shops
Hi All!! Going down to the city this week....and was going to try and visit Tribeca...heard that there are some really funky clothing boutiques there...anyone know of any? Thanks*
|
Actually, the places you are interested in are in Soho, not Tribeca. Anyway, if they are in Tribeca, I haven't noticed many.

There are many more in Soho. Basically, the area South of Houston St. and West of Broadway has the places you are looking for. Prince St, Wooster St., West Broadway all have multiple shops.

There are plenty of sidewalk vendors selling "stuff" on the weekends, as well. There are also plenty of funky places for lunch.

|
Thanks Phil...appreciate your response....we are going to Carmine's for lunch on 5th ave....do you have any idea how far away Soho is from that?
|
Are you sure it is Carmine's?

The Carmine's that I'm familiar with are all Uptown. The one on 44th Street is the most well known. I think there is one on the Upper West Side.

Those are pretty far distances from Soho.

Carmine's is more of a family style restaurant that is good for big groups. You sure that's the place you are thinking of?
|
Is Elizabeth St considered Tribeca? or NOHO? There are some good boutiques, shoe shops in that area, past Balthazar.
|
Elizabeth Street would be part of Soho. Neighborhood lines get a little crossed in that part of town.

You probably know this, but Tribeca generally refers to the area South of Canal Street and West of Broadway.

Soho is south of Houston St. Soho, east of Broadway turns into Little Italy, which turns into Canal St.

Yes, it all very confusing.
|
Thank you Phil, I am confused enough these days:)
|
Actually, Elizabeth Street is in NoLiTa.
|
I refuse to use a name that I'm sure was dreamed up by real estate agents to jack-up the rent by $1,000 a month.

Good point, Phil. :-)

I also vote for the Lower East Side: above Houston, below E. 10th St, between 3rd Ave and Ave A, especially E 3rd St, E 6th, E 9th and St. Mark's Place. Just walk around - also cruise by Great Jones St and Bond St between Broadway and Bowery. If you like Sex and the City's clothes, Patricia Field is in the Village, at W 8th St between Fifth & University. Have fun shopping!
