Trendwest Resorts--- anyone ever use them?

I once received comp tickets to visit las vegas after viewing a timeshare video. I never got around to using it (issues with the taxes they charged and the availability of dates and my schedule) and now they are calling me once again.

I am considering maybe going for it, but wanted to know if anyone had actually taken advantage of the free trip and what their thoughts were.

Dear 29:

We have been owners in Trendwest/Worldmark for about 3 years. We have visited their resorts in Cabo, Windsor and SF. So far they have been very nice. Many of their resorts are in Wash. & Oregon and are also reported to be very nice.

We have never taken any free trip thru them. Are you already and owner? If not, I would say to try and check out their resorts first, before buying in. Then go to:

http://www.tug2.net/

To educate yourself on owning time shares. If you do want to buy, go to the secondary market.

If I had to do it over again, I would buy or rent thru tug2.

Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear---I wasn't asking about their property for sale, but rather their free trips they give for those who attend their time share presentations.

Dear 29:

We ended up not using the "free" trip to LV. Timing didn't work out. But friends of our did one of these trips(not thru Trendwest, but another timeshare deal). The free trip is to lower end places and usually restricted to certain days of the week or time of year. The booking company will try to get you to upgrade to nicer places, but you have to pay more of course. Our friends said it was OK.

Good luck,

MY

Agree with MichelleY. The freebie places usually are dumps, and it is highly encouraged to pay a few extra dollars and get decent accommodations at a hotel/casino on the Strip.
