Travelocity Rates Differ During the Day For NYC?
 

I was looking at air & hotel packages for NYC this morning (before 9 am) on Travelocity.com and found some very good rates (didn't book because our travel dates weren't firm) went back to Travelocity.com after 12 o'clock this afternoon to compare some hotels and the rates (for the same package and dates I was looking at) have increased significantly. Do the rates on that site often fluctuate - or was this just a fluke?

The quantity is limited and as people snatch them up the prices go to the next bracket. Happened to me the other day with an airfare to Europe (there must have been one at that price!) -- "ya snooze, ya lose".

lana - makes sense! Wish my group had their act together this morning so I culd have booked for us. Anyway, I'm going to keep checking the site - yesterday was high - this morning was low - this afternoon was high . . .you never know!<BR><BR>

<BR>One morning, at travelocity, I was pricing airline tickets for domestic travel in Brazil. I went back that night and the fares were outrageously higher. Next morning, I saw the lower rates again.<BR>

Bill, thanks for posting. Yesterday I was &quot;playing&quot; with dates/flights/hotels/ for a JFK to London trip. Nothing serious, just screwing around. Found a wonderful rate for a Virgin Atlantic flight &amp; 6 nights at the Russell in London's Bloomsbury section. Kind of toyed with taking some time off work to go, and went back in today to read fine print, etc. and the same deal, same dates, is now more than twice the cost it was yesterday. Bill, I'm glad to see that when this happened to you, the low rates did reappear!

Air and hotel rate data is controlled by the vendors, NOT travelocity.com<BR>Ditto with Expedia and Orbitz.<BR>This phenom can happen to anyone accessing rate data anytime regardless of the portal.<BR>If you see a great deal, it's a good idea to get it while you can.<BR>If you are dealing with a travel agent, you can hold most reservations until midnight, which will let you do some double checking/planning.<BR>There are a few instant purchase fares out there that force you to buy it on the spot or lose out...<BR><BR>

I've seen this happen too, but Tvlpro, if the individual establishments are controlling the rates and not travelocity, why do the rates change across the board? (i.e. not just one specific hotel). I'm not arguing with you, I'm just trying to understand it!
