Travelocity

I have booked my hotel in Las Vegas through Travelocity. This is my first experience with them. Would like to know of other's experience with this company. Thanks!

Why didn't you asked BEFORE you booked the room?

Lindsey:
I use them to book my trip to Amsterdam last year. No problems. They gave me the best prices for the airfare and hotel.

We've used them lots of times; received good rates and never had a reservation fall through. I always comparison shop at other sites because Travelocity isn't necessarily the least expensive option.

Lindsey, I've used Travelocity many times too and have never had a problem. They're very reliable, I'll definitely use them again. You should check the other online services too, just to compare, like Orbitz. One annoying thing that Travelocity did recently caused me to book with Orbitz. I was planning a trip for July 4 week to San Diego and when I checked Travelocity, they had a good fare listed but with a flashing light that said "This fare only available for 30 minutes!" I went to Orbitz.com, and they had the exact same fare but without the pressure to book that minute, so I used them simply because I didn't like the scare tactic on Travelocity.

2 negatives:

-Booked a hotel in Toronto. Rate wasn't what I booked. Showed the clerk the printout from Travelocity, they didn't care. Afterwards, Travelocity basically told me to dispute it with the hotel who had basically told me to go pound sand but it was only about $10 so I didn't waste time getting aggravated.

The other night, I was just using them to search airfare rates and found their info to be very misleading. I tried the "my dates are flexible" option to find the lowest fare. Then they show you a calendar showing exactly which dates the fare is valid for. So I click one of the departure dates and it tells me that date is not valid and then greys out half the dates. Then I pick one of those and select a return date and the fare comes back $25 higher, turns out when they draw you in with the fare, they leave out all the taxes. Orbitz doesn't do this-the fare you see is the fare you get. When Travelocity shows you the days the low fare is available, it looks like it is just crunching the general rules for that fare and not really seeing if the fare is being offered on that day. I find Travelocity to be far inferior to other travel search engines-I just like the "my dates are flexible" feature to find out what the true lowest fare is in that market regardless of the date you will travel on.

I am not happy with Travelocity for almost exactly the same reason as Mike. In our case, the motel (Day's Inn, Tucson) was perfectly happy with the Travelocity booking confirmation when we came in, but on check-out time it was a different story, and they insisted that the Travelocity price was not valid. They blamed everyone, in turn: us, Travelocity, and their computer system. But they wouldn't budge on their "new" price. They had our bags in the back room, we had a coach to catch, and we felt quite disempowered, so we paid up, grudgingly. Then, when we emailed Travelocity about our problems, no response... three times! Finally, a fourth one (seven months after) got a reply from Travelocity, and a promise to look into it. That's the last we heard from them.
