People traveling to NYC for Thanksgiving already want to get in the holiday spirit.
For many traveling at Thanksgiving and Christmas, they travel to warm weather but still want to celebrate. |
In Honolulu at least, most restaurants will offer some sort of Thanksgiving dinner or Easter brunch option because many local people choose to dine out on those particular holidays. They want to eat the "traditional" holiday meal, but they just don't want to cook it themselves.
It's probably harder to find a restaurant that doesn't serve a holiday meal option on those holidays than finding one that does. |
Bobmgr, I think he was referring to "Born in the USA" as the anti-vietnam song.

You people who are posting hostile or sarcastic remarks are doing nothing that helps me understand why you seek out foods at a restaurant while on vacation that you would make at home for the holiday.
I never said I though it was wrong or that you shouldn't or wouldn't do it. I just wondered why, what was your reasoning? Some people responded with reasonable reasons others are just angry that I asked. |
Who has been hostile, sarcastic and/or angry?
I just re-read all of the replies and I don't see it. |

Bobmgr: stevie's right, i didn't mention "proud to be an american," i referred to Born in the USA.
hope i wasn't too sarcastic, just posting my related thoughts. |
I've made a tradition of traveling on Thanksgiving and make no attempt to find a turkey dinner. If I wanted turkey, I could make one anytime. I don't care much about the traditional Thanksgiving side dishes with all the trimmings. They seem like pretty ordinary items to me--the difference is that you're having them all at one meal.
I must admit my habit also developed when we kids all grew up and married. My siblings went to their in-laws for Thanksgiving so we could all be together at Christmas. A few times we ended up with my parents at a restaurant for the hoilday, just four of us. It must be a family thing, because none of us ever ordered the turkey dinner--there are so many more inteesting foods to eat. |
