Traveling with kids

Hi all! how do you help your little ones to be happy in the aircraft? iPad games? cartoons?
thanks!

Bourbon.

Or perhaps that keeps us happy instead.

How old are the kids and how long of a flight?

When our kids were little, I'd bring some new, little toys that were surprises.
I'd give them to each kid, one at a time, so the little 'gifts' lasted the entire flight.
They liked to read, so that made it easier.

Consider letting the plane be an electronics-free environment for your vacation. (In fact, why not make the entire vacation electronics-free for everyone?) When my kids were very young, I brought books, crayons and blank paper. I read them stories and we drew pictures together. When they got to elementary school, we added puzzle books and we played word and memory games like "I'm Going on a Trip and I'm Bringing.." or "Hangman". By middle school, they pretty much just read for the entire flight.

We found this forced confinement in the airport and on the plane a great opportunity to have to some good child/parent time and to catch up on reading for fun.
