Traveling with alcohol .

Hi all , I am traveling from Mass to virginia beach to visit family ! We will be staying at a huge beach house , I was looking at prices for alcohol and it's wayyyyy cheaper out here in mass than down in virginia. My fiance and I are both 21+ i know it's not illegal as long as it's unopened my question is is it okay even though my 6 year old will be taking the drive with us ? It will also be in the trunk.

There is no law against transporting alcohol for personal use across state lines. Keeping it in the trunk seems like a smart idea, to avoid even the appearance of wrongdoing. The kiddo is not an issue.

You'll have no problems.
Some states used to be a little weird about people buying liquor in one state and transporting to another, to avoid liquor taxes in the destination states. But I think the states have figure out that law enforcement has better things to do than investigate liquor transportation for personal use.

How close are you to New Hampshire? Isn't it even less expensive there?

Booze in VA is expensive because the state has prohibition-era alcohol laws and liquor must be sold in state-run Alcohol Beverage Control stores which have monopoly pricing and carry primarily the largest selling brands only - if you expect to find a rare ___, forget it.

Thank you everyone. I figured the alcohol wouldn't be a issue I just wanted to clarify since this is the first longest car ride for my daughter & we were bringing the alcohol so far & big russ yes ive been looking at prices of the alcohol it's a 20$ difference. I'm bringing jagermeister in mass for the 1.75L it's 30.99 and in virginia it's 50.99
