Hello all, I will be in Isla Mujeres in a few weeks and need desperately to be able to both call California to receive a message and then make some calls there, at a certain time and date, for an internship. Can anyone tell me if there is good cell phone reception there, and on what part of the island? Also, more importantly, will my verizon phone work there if I just add some international minutes, or must I rent another phone? And what type do folks suggest? I need it for a week max. Thanks!

Cori

I guess I have to ask the obvious: if the reception isn't good are you staying somewhere that has landline phone service?

Cori,
Sounds like your Verizon phone should work. I think reception is fairly decent on the island. Pop over to islamujeres.info - Here's the website to a current Q & A on cell phones.

Hope this works - sorry don't know why it's showing up twice.

In that this thread was started over 7 years ago if I were you Cori I would start a new thread regarding your question. And assuming you are talking about being in Mexico I would post on the Latin America Board as that is where the information regarding Mexico is posted. Have a fun trip!
