Hello- my husband and I lived in Montana for years. You will love the state, it is just beautiful. I can't tell you much about Hamilton, we lived in Missoula, Butte and Helena. North of Hamilton is a nice hike- Koottenia Creek (spelling?). If you make it to Missoula, The Mustard Seed and Lolo Steak House are a must! I wasn't sure what time of the year you are planning to go but I recommend you avoid the winter. Last time we were home there was such a bad blizzard we were stranded. The summers have low humidity and cool evenings. Let me know if you are interested in ski resorts, we've been to them all. Glacier will be a nice trip- (horseback riding is offered at Mini Glacier Lodge.) You can email us directly and we would be happy to provide more info. Enjoy your trip!

I just ran across your message while searching for some info on my own upcoming trip. I have lived in Montana all of my life. I am not too familiar with Hamilton, but it is not a very large town. There are always reasonable motels and b&b's around, and I must say that you probobly will never encounter a more friendly bunch of people than here in Montana. I hope you enjoy your trip here, and if you happen to get to Helena, be sure and tour Last Chance Gulch. It is the main street here, and packed full of history. I hope you enjoy your trip here. Sorry I couldn't be of more help on Hamilton.

Montana is probably one of the most beautiful states in the U.S. You'll have a great time!

I don't get it...this post is from 1998!!!

Summer is very pleasent in most of western Montana.
Hamilton is just south of Missoula in the forests and mountains of extreme Western Montana. That part of the state is lightly populated, with miles and miles of wilderness trails.
One thing I learned about people in that part of the US is that you cannot judge a person by what they are wearing or what kind of vehicle they are driving.
I like that part of the state and hope to go back again someday.
Take your fishing gear, there are lots of mountain streams.
