Traveling in Oregon in April

Will be visiting Seattle next weekend. Then moving on to Oregon. 2 girls in our thirtys .Any suggestions are appreciated. Is there a wine region, the coast or something on the way to Mt. Hood.

Leaving sunday night and want a cool, interesting place to stay on our way to Mt. Hood. Is there anything in between whether it be in Washington or Oregon. We are staying at the Timberline Lodge in Mt. Hood on tuesday. Just trying to see as much as I can.

Between Seattle and Portland, there isn't much. Mt. St. Helens is the biggest draw, but not so much this time of year.

From what you say, you might just come most of the way and stay in Troutdale at the Edgefield. It fits the "cool, interesting" criteria.

As for wineries, there are close to 40 in the gorge area, but very spread out. I prefer the wines made over here on the west side, SW of Portland around Dundee/McMinnville. Pinot Noir is king here, with a bit of Pinot Gris and others thrown in for good measure;)

Portland, the Oregon Coast (Cannon Beach), and the Columbia River Gorge (Hood River) are three places worth visiting.

Here is a list of some of Seattle's attractions: http://www.frommers.com/destinations...2_indattr.html

The ferry to Bainbridge Island is a popular 1/2 hour trip. It offers great views of the Seattle skyline and, on a clear day, the Olympic and Cascade mountains.

Foe world-class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay the areas around McMinnville, Dundee, Amity and jnewberg are hard to beat. Goig up the Columbia River toward the Washington wine country will bring you some Merlot and Cab Sav. as well.
