Traveling between Charleston SC and Savannah
We are planning a trip to the South East. We will be spending a few days in Atlanta with friends and would like to visit Savannah and Charleston. I was told that driving between Atlanta and Savannah will take about 4-5 hours. Does anyone know how long of a drive between Savannah and Charleston? Also, on our way back, should we go back to Atlanta, how long is this drive from Charleston? or should we fly out of Charleston?
I would appreciate any advice.
Thanks

Just went from Savannah to Charleston and it was only a couple hours. Routed the distance out first using Mapquest.com or Expedia.com

It os only a couple of hours and a very pretty drive as well. If you have the time, stop at Beaufort, SC. Wander the old, much restored City. Beautiful old mansions and city streets. Lots of fun and good restaurants, shops, etc. Makes for a nice break. If you drove back to Atlanta, you would be crossing Georgia twice I assume, first to Savannah and then back from Chareston or reverse. Make sure you save plenty of time for the two Cities. They are beautiful with much to see. If you still have the time, drive back to Atlanta. There is plenty to see on each route (going and coming). Once I get into an area, I like to see as much as time permits. Happy traveling.

I'd rather be shot that drive back across Georgia. Spent the extra time in the beautiful low country and then fly out of Charleston.

I would not drive back down to Atlanta. Visit some plantations around Charleston and go to Beaufort. The low country is absolutely beautiful. The drive between Savanah & Charleston is not very long, 1.5 to 2 hours but it is pretty. I love Charleston. Take a historical tour of both Savanah & charleston.

Danna is right. I Missed the fact that you had the option to fly out of Charlston. Spend more time in the two beautiful cities and environs and fly out of Charlston.
