Traveling alone to San Diego

I'll be heading out to San Diego the first week of June & will be traveling by myself. Any suggestions of things to do, places to eat, etc?!!

Gosh, that's a broad question. It depends on what types of things you're interested in doing/seeing/eating. My favorite things to do in San Diego include a trip to the zoo; an afternoon/evening in the village of La Jolla walking along the ocean, checking out the cliffs and seals, and eating upstairs at Top of the Cove while the sun sets; an evening in the gas lamp district and dinner at Laurel (not in the gas lamp, but close) or Blue Point (a good seafood restaurant); an afternoon checking out the Hotel Del Coronado; an afternoon in Balboa Park, the Prado, etc . . .; and hiking in Torrey Pines. I'm sure I'm leaving things out, but that's a good start . . .

Petco Park: BASEBALL!

Wow, there's almost nothing here you can't do by yourself. I guess it depends on you comfort with independence. Balboa park and Old Town are really nice because there's alot to just look at. There are a TON of museums in Balboa Park, not to mention the architecture. I think the web address is www.balboapark.org. Simple. Old Town also has a lot of museum-like stuff, neat shopping (check out Bazar del Mundo), plus great food with outdoor seating, and live music.

Just a thought on hiking - it's never good to do alone.

Be a lot easier to answer this if we knew if you are a man or a woman and what your particular interests are. There's a lot to do in SD but a lot would also depend on what kinds of "things" you enjoy doing.

To respond to singletail, I'm female and it will be my first trip to the west coast.

I do plan on going to Balboa Park, & taking in a Padres game while I'm there. I'm staying at that Marriott Hotel & Marina unless anyone has other suggestions...it seemed less family oriented than most.

Our daughter lives in San Diego and we go there once or twice a year.

The Zoo is the most wonderful zoo I have ever been to.

I have stayed at the Marriott I think the one you are staying at. It is right near Seaport Village which is a great place to walk and eat.

Balboa Park is great....
