travel to India

When is the best time of the year to travel to India. Also, are inoculations required?

This is the wrong forum for your question. And why you tagged Wisconsin, I don't know.

You should probably check an official government site for innoculation information

therose1, do email the editors ([email protected]) and ask them to move this post to the Asia forum. Or if you've already made a new post there, ask them to remove this one. Thanks!

India is a huge country. The best time to visit depends on where you want to go. You can take a look at each city you are considering at www.weatherbase.com/city.php3?c=IN&refer=

No inoculations are required to visit India unless you are coming from a Yellow Fever area, but you would be wise to get a number of vaccines and to consider whether you amy need anti-malarials. Take a look at www.cdc.gov/travel

You may want to start by getting a good guidebook, as it will answer a number of basic questions and will give you ideas of where you might want to visit.

With a few exceptions, the best time to travel to India is from late October to early March. The monsoons have withdrawn in northern India. The summers are on the way out & in the plains the weather is dry & crisp. Most of the first timers enjoy a trip to Delhi, Agra & Rajasthan. Some of the finest hotels are also located in this region.
Down South (western sector) again November to February is good time for a trip. Tamil Nadu (south-eastern India)will be wet in October - December.
Malaria is not a problem during the winters. However, it is advisable to carry a mosquito repellant cream.
I notice you are a golfer. We do have some fine golf courses for you to enjoy a swing, as well!
Happy travels!
