Travel in North Carolina

A couple of years ago I went to Charlotte for 2 days due to Jetblue giving me a major discount. It was a very boring City. I want to go to this state again, However I want to go to a place that is worth going. Any suggestions on good trips to North Carolina. How is Raleigh and Asheville

What are you looking for? In my opinion, Charlotte and Raleigh both offer good restaurants, sports venues, museums, and local shows/theater.
Asheville (a favorite of mine) is a city in the mtns., also good restaurants, art venues, proximity to the Blue Ride parkway, etc.

I've heard from many people that Asheville is a very fun and interesting town. The other advantage to Asheville is it's proximity to the Blue Ridge Parkway which is a beautifully scenic drive.

Raleigh won't be any more exciting. Try either Asheville or the Outerbanks.

Asheville is a great travel destination as is Charlotte (if you know what you are doing). Since there are probably a dozen of us on here that reside in CLT, I'm guessing you failed to do your research prior to said visit. You have only yourself to blame. Many posts on here re: Asheille, once again, YOU do YOUR research...Probably easiest to fly into CLT & drive up to Asheville, any flights will likely connect in CLT first anyway. Sa,e w/Wilmington

Your name/moniker, (BTW) speaks volumes....

I kind of agree with your opinion of Charlotte after having spent years working in Charlotte and I have good friends and family that live there.

That said, Asheville would be a great town for you but I think it is rather expensive to fly in and out of Asheville due to it being a small airport.

Also, it is scary (to me) flying in and out of Asheville.

I travel from SF to Carolina Beach every summer (8 years now) and I never run out of places to explore! Of course, I always go to various websites, request travel planners (the State guide is amazing, as is the Charlotte guide). We've found days worth of places to see around Charlotte and are even cutting short our time at the beach to get everything done! Agree--you need to do some homework!

SAnParis sort of covered it. Do your homework. Charlotte is a big city. There is lots to do, lots of good eating to do and shopping. It isn't really "charming", as little towns at the beach or mountains would be. Why would you expect that.
SO what do you like to do. NC has it all if you want to see it and plan.
