Ok....I need help. I have two tickets on United to use by mid December (within the US) We are looking to go to a place that will not require a lot of $$$. Any ideas? We would like to go for only three or four nights. We are open to any ideas. I need to book the tickets this week...so please help me!!! Thanks so much.

Charleston, SC. If you reserve a hotel in the historic distric you will not need to rent a car.

I saw an article that San Fran has super cheap hotel deals goin on right now!! You could do some Xmas shopping there!

Do you ski? United has a hub in Denver. You could rent a car and head up to the slopes for a few days.<BR><BR>Or how about a few days in New Orleans? No need for a car and there's plenty of great places to eat (and not all of them are that expensive).<BR><BR>Or if you'd like a few days of sunshine, think about flying out to Los Angeles for a few days. Pasadena is one of my favorite cities and you could always book a less expensive hotel through priceline.com. San Diego is also a great getaway location.

Head to the Keys, you can get great rates until Christmas.

Hi Shannon,<BR><BR>A couple of ideas: (1)Alburquerque, New Mexico. Stay anywhere, you can rent a car and get around EZ.<BR><BR> Warmer climate, desert,visit Sante Fe, and Alburqueque's "Old Town". Drive out to Alcoma an indian Pueblo, that is One-Mile off the desert floor. (New Mexico itself is 6000 feet above sea level).<BR><BR>People actually live up there, with no running water and or TV's etc! It's considered an honor to live there, the Spanish fought over it for 100's of years. Take the tour it is cool.<BR><BR>(2). San Fransico: Hills, Water, Thw Wharf, Seafood, Trolley cars, Visit the old prison! 'Alcatraz', night life!! Check Fodor's for some cheap stays, I was there in May. It was great!<BR><BR>(3). New Orleans: One of my all time Fav's.. FUN&lt; FUN&lt;FUN! The French Quarter, The Garden District, Jackson Square, Steam boat rides on the Mississippi, JAZZ..FUN. Check Fodor's or ask other posters for lodging ideas!<BR>Some of the cheap haunts are awful and some are good, do your home work but avoid "The house of the Rising Sun".<BR><BR>You'll figure it out - Have FUN!

What about Florida? Snowbird season probably doesn't begin until after Christmas (I think), so you can probably book a condo or efficiency for low $$$$. Hey, have a bowl of cereal in the morning, a sandwich for lunch (in your condo or efficiency), and go out for a nice dinner each night! Spend the afternoon at the beach (free)and check out what's going on locally. I'm pretty sure you won't need too much $$$ for that. However, New Orleans sounds good - but you'll probably end up in a hotel and have to pay for all meals. That's not bad, but you did mention the $$$ factor. Have fun whatever you decide.
