Travel guides
There is an excellent travel guide called 'The Milepost' for journeys through Alaska is there anything similar for journeys through the rest of the USA? If not can anyone recommend excellent travel guides other than Lonely Planet - we are planning to travel from coast to coast.

Thanks for that tip rm_mn. A pretty good comprehensive list is provided on this site!

The Frommers travel guide helped us a lot when we went to Puerto Rico.
It also suggested a little place to stay that was so wonderful, it made our trip. We would have never found it on our own. |
Dear Friend, if you travel often, you may want to consider getting a Travel Guide in MP3 audio format. It sure beats carrying a 500-page guidebook around. It is by the famous Travel author Tom Mason. Check it out at

I am planning a long trip to Vegas (getting married!), Grand Canyon, then California. Yosemite, Kings Canyon, Lake Tahoe, Napa Valley, San Francisco and Big Sur.
With all that planning, I have been scouring bookstores for travel books. I love the Lonely Planet ones for a single destination, Like Hwy 1, California, but for a region, I like the Frommers books. Much info and I like the format. The Fodors books are helpful as well. I would recommend going to the store, finding the books you like, then going to Amazon.com. You can then find that same book for pennies if you order it through one of their linked booksellers. |
