Travel from Manhattan to Dover, NJ

I want to visit my aunts in Dover, NJ while in NYC. We staying at the Belvedere (46thSt between 8th & 9th Ave.) Can you get there from here? Thanks!

you can check out the bus and train schedules at njtransit.com

I just did this trip on Friday. LOL

I took the NJ Transit from Penn Station (33rd Street and 8th). It costs $9.65 for a one way peak ticket. It takes about an hour if you catch the midtown direct line. Your best bet is to take the A train from 42nd Street one stop to Penn Station and take the NJ Transit train from there.

But be advised, if you decide to travel during rush hour, the train will be packed and you may have to stand!

To get to Penn Station from the hotel go to 50th St. and 8th Avenue. Take the C train DOWNTOWN to 34th St., Penn Station. It is the second stop.

Belvedere is on 48th St., not 46th St.

Something must be odd about the trains lately, I've traveled them my share of times and never had to stand in years.

The buses are far more frequent, but you can't see scheuldes at njtransit.com because they are run by Lakeland, not NJ Transit. Try www.lakeland.com - they are based right in Dover so it's pretty easy, and it's cheaper.

Did you know there are two Dovers here in New Jersey?

Do you know if you are heading to Dover in Morris County or Dover in Ocean County?

It's Dover (Morris County). Thanks for all the info!
