Travel from Bangor to Camden

We will be flying into Bangor and driving to Camden in mid-September. Any idea how long a drive that is and is the Camden Harbor Inn over rated? We are seniors who want to eat some lobster and enjoy the view! Then fly out of Portland.
We would sure love some advice.

Thanks,
Lucci

The quickest route is about 2.5 hours, but you can drive a longer more scenic route with a nice stop for lobster if you're interested.

I don't know the Camden Harbor Inn but I can recommend High Tide Inn if you don't mind being a couple of miles out of town. Nothing walkable from this inn but you will indeed enjoy the view! How many days do you have total? Staying in Camden the whole time?

Joescore your information is incorrect the drive from Bangor airport to Camden is shorter, I did it in 1 hour 30 minutes. without making stops. The scenic route takes about 2 hours.
I stayed at Camden Harbour Inn and I did not find it over rated at all. I enjoyed it so much that I decided to extend my stay. My room was very comfortable and had all the amenities and the best view in town.the restaurant is by far the best in Camden. The inn is slightly elevated and looks over the harbor, the town, the hills and the bay--truly amazing, breathtaking. Sunrise over the bay on my private deck with a cup of coffee was unforgettable. It is three weeks now and I am driving my family crazy with all the rave stories. It is not inexpensive but there is not a better place in Maine. You should check Shermans Travel and Travel and Leisure, both rated Camden Harbour Inn among the best in the world. I can only agree. Don't forget to dine at Primo in Rockland!

Thanks so much for your advice. Is the scenic route, route 1? We heard of a place in Lincolnville called Lobster Pound Restaurant..did you try it while traveling? And which room did you stay in while at the Camden Harbour Inn? This is a once in a lifetime experience and for us and I hope to treasure it as you have.

We are flying into Bangor and then out of Portland and are planning about 4 days to travel the coast. Not a lot, I know but will do some walking around but not mostly seeing the views and eating as much lobster as possible. Any other suggestions on places after Camden?

I stayed in Curacao a beautiful room overlooking the harbor and bay with private deck. The room was recommended by friends because of the view and I can only say WOW! I am not sure if route 1 is the scenic route but it is a really nice drive. I would either stay in Portland at Portland Harbor Hotel and use that as your base for a trip to Kennebunkport and Ogunquit or stay at the Whitebarn Inn in Kennebunkport and spend a day in Portland.
Dine at Forestreet and when staying at Portland Harbor Hotel make sure you book a room in the new building. Big splurge and you will love it. Make sure you stay 2 nights in Camden there is so much to do. I had the 4 course lobster menu at Natalie's (Camden Harbour Inn) and was truly amazing!

Hi Palmac,
How dressy is Natalies? We are booked for three nites at the Camden Harbour Inn..can't remember the room but it has a balcony and is on the second floor. Unfortunately, the last
nite is in the room above ours so we have to move..no balcony but great view..

Can't wait! What did you do while in Camden?
