I think it is a relevant topic. Many who travel often on the job are tempted to have small affairs or one-night-stands. My own case is of interest. Two months ago, my recently converted Catholic wife decided to not only confess to the our priest (for those of you who don't know, Catholics are really pushed to go to confession at Easter)but also to me. She told me that six years ago, when on a four month special work assignment for EPA in Seattle 3000 miles from where we live in Maryland, she dated a man five or six times out of boredom, loneliness and a desire for "attention". She had answered his personal ad in the Seattle Weekly. My wife's affair was not sexual, limited to a couple of unwanted kisses when she was deposited outside her apartment complex after dates, and when the man asked for sex, she terminated the relationship. Nonetheless, though we now have three children and one on the way, the revelation almost destroyed our marriage as I despise disloyalty of all kinds. Think of it. Though the dates were meant to be platonic, my wife took off her wedding ring, snuck around with another man, and watched movies with him a couple of times in Seattle theatres. She got herself in the situation where she was smooched on the mouth by another man, shared his slobber, and was asked for sexual favors by this same man. So for all those who think travel and affairs are irrelevant, I can tell you that they are relevant.
