I haven't stayed there but my BIL and SIL have stayed there many times and LOVE it.

Sorry I can't be more helpful, but it sounds really nice.

I have stayed there, although it was quite a few years ago. We did not make reservations and got in because of a last minute cancelation during peak leaf season. One of the best places I have every stayed. Don't remember much about the room, although I sure it was nice, just not memorable. However I do vividly remember the dinner we had there. 6 course dinner that was one of the best meals I have ever had. When they came around with the dessert tray filled with all the bavarian desserts, it was just the icing on the cake, so to speak. We stayed in the lodge itself and were only there for 1 night, so we didn't spend alot of time exploring the area other than the property. There are some great areas to explore right on the property with a small chapel behind the lodge. Lots of gardens, although I suppose in Nov perhaps not too much growing. I suppose you could have snow which would be equally as beautiful.

I guess you can tell from my screenname what my favorite place is? Check out the MistGrill in nearby Waterbury and FoxFire Inn in Stowe. Miguels is great for mexican and Topnotch for free cookies and tea at 4:00. It's a wonderful town Ben and Jerrys, Apple Cider Mill, craft stores and a great art store too. enjoy!

I stayed there last summer. It was great! (I lucked out and got it on Priceline for $65).
Hiking around the property is great. It's in a beautiful location with a tremendout amount of acreage. You can pay your respects to Maria and the Captain as their graves are on the front of the property. See the complimentary movie "The Truth About Maria." Have a drink at the bar.

Outside of the hotel, I recommend going to Simon Pearce. It is a restaurant that also sells blown glass and ceramics. You can watch glass blowing and pottery making on the premises. The restaurant's location is lovely. Food and service was great. The items for sale are a bit pricey, but you can enjoy them while you eat as the meals are served on their own products.

I've heard nothing but good things about this resort. One thing to realize is that November is a quiet time in Vermont, which means a few things might be closed, but there will be virtually no tourists. November is the 'grey' season in up here - the leaves are down, and (most likely) there is no snow yet. A good time for long walks in the countryside provided you are not near a hunting area, and the trails haven't been hit with an ice storm. I must mention that Simon Pierce is not in Stowe, but in Quechee, which is almost an hour away. You will also be very close to Montpelier, which has some very good restaurants like the Vermont Grill, and Sarducchi's.

Just to chime in - we stayed there 14 years ago (easy to remember as I was pregnant with my oldest daughter). We had a lovely relaxing time - very memorable. Hopefully it hasn't changed much. For casual dining, there is a pizza place (Planet Pizza ?) that was very good. On Mountain Rd. and don't forget to rent bikes and ride along the recreation trail. Very scenic even if the leaves are all gone.

Hi radiofanatic.

We have spent at least a dozen weekends in Stowe usually in late Sept or early October although one year we went quite late in October.

Never stayed at the Trapp Lodge but have heard good things. It is in a nice location off the Mountain Rd. We always stay at the same place on the Mountain Rd as we like the proximity to the bike path. Hopefully, your weather will be good enough to enjoy this wonderful paved rec path.

There are plenty of really good restaurants along the Mountain Rd and in the village itself. Also, lots of neat little shops.
Some of our favourite restaurants are: Blue Moon Cafe, Foxfire Inn, Miguel's Stowe Away, Mr. Pickwick's Pub, The Shed, Trattoria La Festa and The Whip Bar & Grill in the Mountain Inn.

Also, don't miss the Harvest Market on Mountain Rd. It is an unbelievable gourmet shop offering fabulous selection of delicious entrees, salads, baked goods etc. Also a great selection of cheeses, wines and an expresso bar. Great spot for takeout lunch.

Enjoy your weekend, Stowe is wonderful.
