Transportation to Napa Valley
 

Hi. I am going to San Francisco in December for my honeymoon and I want to go to Napa Valley for 2 nights. Can anyone help me find another way to get to Napa from San Fran other then renting a car!!!!

Well I guess you can take the Greyhound bus, or hire a limo... just curious as to why you wouldn't drive? Renting a car is a much better option.

That area is not really tourable without a car - so it's either rent on e- or rent a car with driver. (There are a few bus trips - but doesn;t sound like what you would want for your honeymoon.)

If you go to Napa Valley from the airport, there is a great shuttle service, Evans Transportaion. There are definitely ways to enjoy the Napa Valley without a car. There are many private tour companies as well as limo services.

You might like to contact Platypus Tours. They do great tours with a small group for $75 including lunch. You could even take the ferry from SF to Vallejo and Don at Platypus will pick you up at the ferry dock if you want. www.platypustours.com
If you stay in one of the small towns in the Valley you could walk from your lodging to restaurants.

Evans is a very fine bus service. They go from SFO with one stop in Vallejo and then on to the City of Napa. Very clean and comfortable busses with great drivers.http://evanstransportation.com/

Besides all of the good suggestions for limos and buses, have you thought about renting a car in downtown SF for your trip to Napa? You could rent a convertible and have a lovely couple of days in the wine country touring on your own schedule.

Unless we have some unusual weather I don't think a convertable in December would be worthwhile.

You can get there w/o a car - but what did you plan on doing while in the area? If you are staying put at one B&B or hotel - then a car isn't necessary. But if you want to tour around at all, a car is fairly essential.

Thank you for once again slapping my hand. Were you once a school teacher? I didn't notice the month in which the OP was traveling. However, you never know with our weather. We can have some absolutely beautiful December days. So, why not a convertible? If it's too cold or rainy, put the top up. Simple as that.

Thank you to all who helped! I didn't want to rent a car to go to Napa becuase we wanted to enjoy wine tasting with out having to worry about getting behind the wheel. I had planned on hiring a limo company to tour around Napa. I just needed to figure out how to get there!
