Transportation from SFB to Universal

Next month, we're flying into Sanford airport, arriving at 9:30 pm, and then need to get to our hotel in Universal Studios. Our travel coordinator suggested Uber, which I've never used but am open to. I'm leery about the unknown wait time. I've also kind of heard better things about Lyft? Is that a better option? I'm also interested in a shuttle, but Tripadvisor doesn't have many reviews for shuttle services. I welcome suggestions and recommendations!

In the past we have always used Mears Transportation Shuttle.

Because its an airport, Uber will be easily available when you arrive, eliminating your wait time concerns... you will also see your charges on your phone before you confirm the ride, and the total will be charged to your credit card...

Sign up for Uber and try it ahead of time if you are scared of the unknown. .. however your first Uber comes with a discount so you and your spouse may both want to sign up...

It is 35 miles but about 45 min drive.

It's not necessarily true that Uber will arrive quickly at Sanford Airport just because it's an airport. It's also not false. It's, as the OP says, an unknown. But I can reassure the OP that Uber is a pretty known quantity now and fairly reliable. I can't tell you if Lyft or Uber is better from that airport, but I use both services fairly often when I have to go to LA, and I've always been happy with the service and prices.

And the price is right at around $50 (unless there's surge pricing). A regular taxi would likely cost at least $70. But there are shuttles as well that cost about $20 to $25 per person (so about the same as an Uber). And the downside of the shuttles is that you usually have to wait until they fill up to depart. Basically, there's going to be a bit of waiting either way.

So. let me get this correct, Mr. Stallings: you are saying that the advantage of taking Uber is the price, is that correct? I assume the regular taxis and the shuttles are just as convenient as Uber, is that right? But the shuttle could take longer and costs the same as Uber.

Keep in mind that a new Uber subscriber gets a $20 discount on their first ride... I used mine in Seattle to reduce a $55 airport ride to $35... you also get a discount if you refer someone... my daughter got this discount... then I referred my wife and I got another discount.... then she got her discount...
