Transportation from pier to Freedom Trail
 

Due to the terriost attack we will board the cruise ship in Boston instead of New York City. Are taxis available at the dock and if they are what is the fee for taking us to the Freedom Trail? <BR>Jeean

Jean - the cruise ship terminal in Boston is relatively small but there has been increased activity there due to the problems in NY. I drove by there the other night to get a glimpse of the QEII. Two other ships were docked there too. There was a police presence at the entrance to the terminal. <BR> <BR> I would assume that taxis would be available. From the terminal to the beginning of the Freedom trail at the Old State House would only be about a mile and a half. Depending upon the traffic it could be a 5 minute ride or 20. It shouldn't cost more than $7-8 tops. Enjoy your cruise.

Hey, good subject. My parents have reservations on a cruise ship. They were supposed to fly into NYC, be picked up by the cruise lines, and taken to the boat. Uhhh, dumb question for you natives up there, but how far (distance/time) is it from one of the NYC airports to Boston if their ship has moved?

S, <BR>it would be about 4 1/2 - 5 hrs by car (not all that close). you can check the amtrak or airline schedule too.

The Freedom Trail starts on Boston Common, not at the Old State House. Take a cab from the pier to the Information Booth on the Tremont Street side of the Common, where you can get all sorts of info brochures and maps.
