Transportation From Newark International
I was wondering what would be the easiest way to get from the airport to the upper west side. I was looking at supper shuttle.
|
I wasn't aware there was a supper shuttle. It must be in the evening only if they serve supper. Is it a boxed thing, or a buffet? How much is the shuttle with supper included?
|
Todd, there is no "shuttle" specifically to the upperwest side. Do you mean the "blue vans"? If so you have to book your trip in advance and I think the number is (800) blue-van.

You can get on the bus into the city to the Port Authority and take the subway or bus uptown.

You other option would be to take a cab and it will cost about $40-$50 with toll and tip.

The bus is $10 I think and subway/ bus fare is $1.50.

Don't know about the "blue vans", depends on where you are going, call and get the price.

Good luck.

Least expensive is the airport bus (Olympia) about $10 to the Port Authority at 42nd and 8th Avenue. Then public transportation (subway or bus, cost $1.50) to destination on upper west side. A taxicab, in the city will cost $2 when you enter the cab and $1.50 a mile.
|
RQF, one of your taxi fare figures is wrong. I only wish it was $1.50 a mile, after the initial $2 charge. I'm not sure what it is, but it's a lot more than $1.50 a mile!

To Howard: You have been misinformed. Rate for a Yellow Cab is 30 cents each 1/5th of a mile - $1.50 a mile

Initial fare.............$2.00
Each 1/5 mile (4 blocks).$0.30
Each 1 minute idle.......$0.20
Night surcharge..........$0.50 (after 8pm until 6am)
Additional riders........FREE
