Transportation from Laguardia Airport to Hotel Mela (120 W 44th St)
 

I will be flying into Laguardia Airport on Thursday, Aug 5 around 11am. What would be the best travel accomidations to Hotel Mela (120 W 44th Street, NY 10036)? If taxi is the best, is there certain bridges we should avoid? What would be the approximate cost for travel? We will also need to get back to the airport on Monday, Aug 9 by noon. Any suggesstions? Thanks!

We came in yesterday from LGA to Hotel Mela and the taxi fare was about $30, toll $5.50. A road was blocked that the driver was going to turn onto and we had to make a block. We gave him $40 total.

Cab from LGA to midtown should be no more than $30-$35 - plus toll and 20% tip. If you prefer you can take a shuttle bus to Grand Central and then a cab to your hotel - but the price will b approximately the same.

Public transit is not a good choice - since it will involved commuter bus and train - often very crowded (possible standing only) and hauling your luggage up and down stairs.

There is no toll on the Queensborough/59th St Bridge.

Traffic will be pretty bad at that time of the day. I'd take a car service so you are not on the meter. You can ask the driver to take the queensborough bridge to avoid the toll. This trip should take about 30 to 40 minutes, but it could take an hour. Reserve the car in advance, and then call when you have picked up your bags to find out where to meet the car (it might take 10 minutes for it to arrive). Take another car service back, and allow an hour for the trip on midday. I like Dial 7.
