Transport LGA to Statute of Liberty
Nine ladies, 10Am Thursday, on their way to Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island from LGA. What is the fastest/least expensive way to get them there? Speed over cost. Group over singles. I'm taking the luggage to the hotel for them. Help please?

Fastest + keep group together way:
hire a car service van to pick you up at LGA and drive to Battery Park
(where the Statue of Liberty Ferry is)
Will cost $100+, maybe even $150 for a big enough van. Splitting into groups of three to fit into 3 cars will probably run about the same, maybe a bit less. Check rates for Carmel Car Service or Dial 7 car service
LGA has no good public transportation access into the city.
The other options involve (cheap -- $2 each) public buses and/or subway (with several changes of transportation mode and it takes a long time) or one of the private bus services that go into midtown---and then they'd all still have to get downtown. Would probably cost as much as a private van

Also check Carmel. And look at their web sites to see if they have any coupons.
Agree - this is the only sensible way - or it will take hours to get there.
And I hope you have advance tickets - or you'll have to wwait on the ticket buying line as well as the security (think airline) line and then the entrance line on the island. figure a minimum of 4 hours from when you get to South Ferry.

On a Thursday morning, allow a minimum of 3 to 3-1/2 hours from landing to your timed tickets (you have to arrive early for security secreening). I know that Golden Touch has larger vans (it's a company that most of the airlines use to transport their own employees from the airports). But I think the cost will be more like $250; that's still not bad (about $30 per person). Remember that it's not a simple transfer; you have to drop them off first and make a separate trip with the luggage, so the charges will be per-hour not per trip.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Unless the ladies are very large, if they get 2 minivan taxis which can seat 5 each, that is the cheapest option. The taxi will be about $35 each or $70-80 for 2 of them. http://www.nyccabfare.com/ gives a cost estimate. The trip will take anywhere from 25-60 mins. I hope they've already purchased tickets online.
