Hey Trevor,
IMO you will DEFINATELY need a car in South Florida. Especially if you're staying in Sunny Isles and traveling to SoBe and surrounding areas. Cabs in Miamis http://www.miamidade.gov/transit/metrobus.asp |
i can't think of a city in the country where a car is more needed than miami.

You must have a car for Miami. South Beach would be a two hour trip by bus or a $50 cab ride.
Depending upon how fast you walk, four hours or so to South Beach. |
Whoops! Don't know what happened with my previous post!
Cabs in Miami can get very expensive, very quickly. A 10 mile trip (from Sunny Isles to Sobe) can easily take you 20 to 30 minutes of travel time. If you are planning on staying within a Mile of Sunny Isles and visiting SoBe for 1 night, then you could wing-it without a car. But if you're going to partake in sightseeing I'd suggest you either rent a car or consider a hotel that's closer to your area of interest. The link above is for MetroBus, which is our public transportation service. I believe they have a Night Owl bus which services SoBe --just don't know if it travel as far north as Sunny Isles. BTW, why Sunny Isles? That's mostly a residential area. |
Wink, Sunny Isles has gorgeous hotels and condotels. It isn't only residential. Plus, half the population of Sunny Isles are snowbirds:-D

That's true, Travel! The new Trump Sonesta is gorgeous, has jet ski rentals, etc. But IMO, in terms of "action & nightlife," SoBe is the place to be.
