Go to the Rockefeller estate, Kykuit. Here's a website that shows the place. You can get there by boat up the Hudson or metro north train. It's a beautiful area.

Do you love to shop and get the best bargains? Take the Shortline bus up to th best outlet shoppping in the U.S. - - Woodbury Commons. Takes about 50+ minutes from the Port Authority bus terminal. Great stores, wonderful food court, plenty of seating areas. A wnderful but exhausting day.

If you go to Philly, don't miss the new US Constitution museum. We were there this summer and loved it.

Also, if you're going to Philadelphia, look at the BUS instead of the train. Greyhound and PeterPan buslines are both running specials for that route. I guess the "Chinatown" buses are giving them some competition. Others have written about how nice (eg: TV) the PeterPan buses are.

I am going to go with Philadelphia too. I went through there on a train to and from NYC. It isn't far away, and you can see a lot in Philadelphia in a day.
