Train Depot in Anchorage -- Easy Walk From Hilton?
The hotel websites does say that it's only a block from the train depot...but does this mean that it's an easy walking block? (I've been places that were only a block from somewhere, but you had to go around the horn to get to it -- not a block you could just walk.)
We'll be 3 couples pulling luggage to catch the train for Seward (cruising, yes). This will be mid-May. |
Most hotels in Anchorage have complimentary shuttles that drive guests to the train station or airport.
Have you checked with your hotel about this? |
It is an easy, 1 block downhill walk. As long as you don't have mountains of luggage, you'll be fine.

Thank you both! I have reservations at the Hilton for all of us as "safety" rooms, if my Priceline bids don't pan out. Seeing as it is a Saturday night, that may well be the case. The rate isn't bad -- $119 -- so if it's that convenient, I won't sweat whether or not I get a Priceline deal.

I drove into Anchorage with no hotel reservation, and went immediately to an internet cafe, got onto Priceline, and landed The Hilton for 3 nights.
The surrounding area is mostly flat and nothing you'd ever think twice about (in a negative light, I mean). You won't have any troubles and if you get really lucky, you might land the Hilton via Priceline for much less than you expect to pay. The room was quite cozy and nice. |
Awesome, thanks.

Yes - as the others said, one block going downhill.
