Traffic info help (Boston to Phila.) -Qiuck!
I am going to Boston this week (Aug. 22-25.) I want to know if traffic back to Phila. will be horrible on Sunday. Should I cut my trip short and leave on Saturday to avoid traffic delays?

It's impossible to predict, but you'll be much better off if you leave early on Sunday morning. If you leave Boston by 8 or 9 AM you should avoid the worst of it.
|
The short answer is yes, unless you leave early Sunday a.m.

I kind of figured traffic would be crazy. Thank you for confirming my fears. Now by leaving on Saturday, my kids won't have to ask me "how much longer" for 2 less hours.

If you can avoid 95, i would strongly recommend it. Suggest 90 to 84 to 684 to 287 cross the Tappen Zee. then GSP to NJ Turnpike to PA Turnpike. Verify the route on a map. I made it from Maine to Bryn Mawr in 7 hours last year. It's also more "scenic" but then anything would be compared to 95. Have a safe trip.

We followed route in last post, although in reverse, last Sunday (DC to Boston). Highly recommend that route, even though most mapping programs will send you on I95. Going north, leaving Washington at around 8 AM we did not hit traffic and were, most of the time, able to view the traffic going south. We saw toll traffic on the Garden State Parkway, and since tollds are every 5 seconds, that could be annoying. A little traffic around Sturbridge on Mass Pike, but that was around 3 PM

If it is a hot day, you will hit more beach traffic on GS Parkway. However, I do not think leaving Sunday AM should be significantly worse than Saturday.
