traffic

I've heard some aweful things about Seattle traffic. If we leave Seattle for Olympic Park. What would be the best time/route for travel. We are planning on driving on a Monday?

steelerfan: You will probably have more luck if you re-post w/ "Traffic Seattle to Olympic Park?" in the title.

Just "traffic" could be asking anything about driving anywhere in the USA.

Monday mornng shouldn't be difficult like, say, Friday afternoon.

http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries gives information about ferry delays and a local number to call for up-to-date information.

If you are driving clockwise and spending your first night at Lake Quinault Lodge, you won't have to worry about the ferry system.

If you're going counter-clockwise and by ferry, take the one to Bainbridge Island. It's a short, scenic route.

I forgot to add that time to Lake Quinault Lodge or Port Angeles (departure point for Hurricane Ridge) is about three hours.

the Seattle traffic problem is worst M-F, AM & PM work rush hours, on the major freeways (I-405, I-5, 520 bridge, I-90 bridge). If you're planning to drive south on I-5 to start out, leave either at 6AM or wait until after 9AM.

(janis, it was weird but i just knew this post was about seattle, i think i've been fodoring too long today!)

suze: I guessed (wrong) that it was about driving from SF to Yosemite -- seems to have been 8 or 10 threads lately asking how to avoid traffic in the east bay. . . . .
