Town to stay along coast between Eureka and San Francisco?

We are wanting a nice scenic place to stop for the night somewhere between Ureka and San Francisco on the coast.. Any recommendations?

Mendocino, Ft Bragg, Little River -- all in the same general area. What is your budget?

Also, weeknight or weekend? Most places in Mendocino require a two night minimum on weekends.

Mendocino would be my choice too.

First choice is easy, Mendocino...
if you want to get closer to San Francisco consider Bodega Bay, Inn at the Tides is nice.

Definitely Mendocino. Here's a place to stay:

Depending on your budget, Raku Inn is cheaper than Alegria, but owned by the same people.

A little south of Mendocino is the Little River Inn. It would be my choice if you can't find availability in Mendocino -- or none in your price range

Thanks but we are only going to be in the area for 1 night and two of the places recommended require 2 nights. We won't be able to arrive until around 3 and leaving early in the morning.
Still looking.

How about Gualala? No two night minimums here. Check out the Redwood Coast Chamber of Commerce website, it should have all the info.

Best,
Lisa

You can probably stay for one night at the Mendocino Hotel, which is quite nice.

Another possibility is to go inland a little bit to Boonville in the Anderson Valley.

janisj Jul 21st, 2011 08:54 AM

I'd definitely only go as far as Mendocino/Ft Bragg/Little River.

Bodega Bay is fine - but sticking to the coast it is about 6 hours from Eureka. There is so much to see/do enroute you'd be on the road a minimum of 10 hours.

And the direct route to Boonville would have you missing the coast entirely.

I was not suggesting going via the inland route to Booneville, but taking a little detour. There are good wines coming out of that valley.

the Mccallum House in Medocino is really nice but don't know if they do a one noght there.
