Tours from Phoenix to Grand Canyon & Sedona

Can anyone recommend a day tour from Phoenix to the Grand Canyon? Is it possible to pick up Sedona on the same trip? I realize that days should be spent at each location, but we just won't have the time on this trip. We'd love for the kids to at least see the Grand Canyon, and also get a glimpse of Sedona if possible. Any suggestions?

Vast majority of visitors simply rent a car and drive up, it's only a 4 hour drive. Will be much less expensive than a tour and you have the freedom to stop at places like Sedona or Jerome on the way back.

It's pretty far from Phoenix to GC for a day trip. That's about 4 hours each way.

Also, a glimpse of Sedona is really a waste of time.

The attraction of Sedona isn't the town but the surroundings.

In my opinion, the town is a bunch of t-shirt store, art galleries and restaurants that close at 9PM.

The surroundings on the other hand can't be beat.

It is a long way for a day trip. If possible I would try to do it in two days.

If you must do it in one day, just get up early and go for it.

Visit the canyon first and if you want to visit Sedona on the way back, then get off the freeway (I-17) and drive down thru Oak Creek Canyon (easier drive down the Oak Creek Canyon and better views than driving up the canyon).

You absolutely cannot combine the Grand Canyon and Sedona into a single day-trip. There is at least 8 hours of hard driving to and from the Canyon, so you can have about 2 hours there on a typical day-trip, and to me, that;s pointless, though I can't deny that a lot of people do it. If it were me, I'd go just to Sedona, and even that will not give you much time in Sedona.

Note the cost on these tours: $140 per adult, $70-80 per child. They're both 13-14 hours long, with most of that sitting in the bus.

Take Bill and bigtyke's advice - rent a car yourself, drive up to the Grand Canyon and back to Phoenix via Sedona by going through Oak Creek Canyon. You will get a glimpse of Sedona, but that's about all.

Well, if you are willing to get a glimpse of Sedona as you said, you could do an airplane ride and combined ground tour to the Grand Canyon, with the flight going through Sedona and up Oak Creek Canyon.

See here, although I am sure there are others.

So actually, you can combine both GC and Sedona in a single day trip, but you will only have flight time over Sedona, and get flight and ground time over/at GC.

I recommend that you drive to Sedona for the night and take a day tours with Silver Spur Tours. They have A Magical Day In Sedona and VIP Grand Canyon Loop tours. Their website is http://silverspurtours.com
