Tour of Movie Star Homes
Is there a reputable private individual that offers this tour in LA? I'd rather not use the mainstream tours unless needed. When we travelled to Jamaica we took an island tour with a gentleman, Pete Taylor, who took about 20 of us on a personal tour in his mini-bus. The price was about half of the normal excursion and more informative.

Tours inside their homes?
If a tour operator isn't mainstream, it is going to be hard for them to make a living. PS Out of curiosity, if you didn't take the 'mainstream' tour, how do you know Pete Taylor's tour was more informative? |
Inside the homes, that would be an exclusive tour!! :-)
We found a tour in a small mini-van with only about 10 people. Someone near Graumann's Chinese Theatre was handing out flyers, so we signed up. It was a lot of fun, but it occurred to me later--how do we know this is for real? They could be just driving us around and making up stuff. It's not like the celebs have their names on the mailbox, or a doormat saying "Welcome to the Brangelina home." I'm kidding of course, but you get the idea. :-)) |
I was asking about outside.
GoTravle to your 3 points ... If you know of a tour operator that offers inside excursions that would be really cool. Life can be a jungle. You only needed to open your mouth and ask the individuals about their 'mainstream' tour. Regards |
Now that would be the ticket wouldn't it?
Possible Names; "Tour the inside of Madonna's/Brangelina's/Clooney's/K-Fed's Home" "See How The Other Half Lives!" "Legally Stalk Your Favorite Movie Star!" |
There are no tours of the inside of stars' homes. That is ludicrous.
The tour will drive through the streets of the greater LA area and point out where the stars of the past lived and where it is rumored that some stars may live today. Many houses have been renovated beyond recognition (Lucille Ball's), many others have been demolished to make way for those horrible faux-Tuscan wedding-cake style monstrosities that the nouveaux riches arrivistes seem to favor in the flats of Beverly Hills. The most impressive piles (David Geffen's, the late Aaron Spelling's) are behind high, opaque walls, so you won't see anything. If you truly want to see the inside of a star's home and are willing to do heavy research, you can pore over the Open House listings in the Sunday LA Times and try to match up high-ticket listings with "stars" who have announced they are selling their homes. Then go to the Open House. You won't see the star, but you'll see the house. You might see other stars (I saw Ben Affleck at an Open House of an architecturally notable residence-- of a non-show biz type-- in the Hollywood Hills). In the Golden Age of "Hollywood", people did indeed know where the stars lived. A lot of them lived up and down Roxbury in Beverly Hills, and a few still own homes there (Peter Falk comes to mind). Madonna used to own Hedy Lamarr's place on Roxbury, but then sold it to Diane Keaton, who has since flipped it for substantial profits. |
Of course there are no tours inside the homes, I was kidding and it was my impression that GoT was kidding as well. I think the OP was looking for inside info, not literally inside tours.

Try the do-it-yourself tour....just knock on doors and ask if your little girl can use the bathroom....works like a charm. I've met SO many stars this way, and have been able to peek into their medicine cabinets too.
I have a picture of myself in front of Lucille Ball's home. (Back before some sheik bought the place and turned it into a monstrosity.) We knocked and knocked on Lucy's door but nobody answered. Then we noticed that she was busy, we peeked into her kitchen window and saw that she was baking this really HUGE loaf of bread. |
