tour from oahu to big island?

We have a free day on Oahu and wanted to know if there is a tour we can take from there to see the big Island? How long does it last and how much for two of us, thats if there is one. If anyone has done this did you like it?

I have not heard of any such tours. To get from one island to another, as far as I know, tourists are left to their own devices. This usually entails taking a short hopper flight between islands and renting a car. Although once you are on any of the islands, there are local tour operators to specific sites or activities. Helicopter tours are a great way to get a beautiful, thrilling overview of an island. You might check online to see if there is a helicopter tour of BI that leaves from Oahu.

Yes there are many tours available to the Big Island from Oahu for a day trip.

Just put "Oahu to Big Island tours" in a Google or other search engine and all kinds of them come up:

Hi <blue>Di<black>,
What you are asking about is commonly known as "island hopping".
Here is a link to a website for RobertsHawii.com/island-hopping/ that offers this. We find with a little research on websites like Fodors, it is not that difficult and less $-)to arrange our own interisland day trip to another island without use of these operators.:S-

I've done day tours to other islands, from Oahu, and I've done self-booked fly-drives to other islands for day trips. I prefer the self-booked fly-drives. We flew over fairly early in the morning, to the big island, and landed in Hilo. We then spent the day driving around Volcanoes Nat'l Park and the east side of the island. It was lovely! Just enough of a view to know that it would be nice to go back and spend some time! I want to go back and see the Kona area next time.

You can book a tour, but my advice would be to look up the destinations that are covered, and then plan your own day on the big island and "do it yourself" and save money.

BTW, with the tours, you are picked up very early in the morning from your hotel or pickup point. It isn't THAT necessary to go soooooo early (IMO).

Have fun!!!

Carol
